Best Clean Makeup Products of 2022
2022 was definitely an exciting year in the world of Clean Beauty, especially when it comes to makeup. My new clean foundation I’m obsessed with and it’s in stick form! It took me YEARS to find a clean beauty foundation stick that actually worked for me, and this one from Merit is perfection.
This is SUCH an easy foundation to work with, you only need your fingers to blend it out, it builds up to a really nice medium-full coverage (but it can easily be a sheered out as well) and leaves your skin with a silky satin finish. I’m seriously in love with it!
Most importantly, Merit states that it’s “Formulated in partnership with esthetician Biba de Sousa, whose No List includes another 72 potentially acne-triggering ingredients that we eliminate.” I can attest to this as I’ve not broken me out from it and it’s hasn’t caused any irritation on my rosacea skin, which is so huge for me.
I finally found the cure-all for dry lips this year with Kari Gran’s Lip Whips!
This “whipped treatment balm” is INCREDIBLY hydrating and soothing - so much so that when I use it as an overnight treatment, I still have some left on my *hydrated* lips in the morning!
The ingredients are immaculate & organic, plus it’s packaged sustainably in a glass pot. I’m blown away by Lip Whip and I know I’ll be using it for years and years to come.
They have a bunch of different tints of lip whip as well as one with no tint!
If you’ve been unhappy with mascaras in clean beauty so far, you HAVE to try the (always sold out!) Tower 28 MakeWaves Mascara. I’ve never found a clean mascara that gives me this much separation and hold a curl in my lashes (my lashes are super straight and stubborn). It’s so easy to work with, and doesn’t dry down quickly, so you can keep working it and building it as you please without rushing the application.
Their “breakthrough Triple-Wave Wand has three flexible suspended bands that lengthen and define every single lash + build boldness. Use the inner wave of the dual-sided brush to build up volume and the longer bristles to lengthen and define lashes.” Plus it’s safe for sensitive eyes, which is super important to me.
One of my birthday gifts this year was this Ilia Balmy Tint Hydrating Lip Balm, that’s been on my wishlist for a LONG time.
I got the shade Wanderlust (pictured), which is a rich berry color, that I absolutely adore. I can’t believe I waited to try this cult classic product!
Balmy Tint is truly that - a very balmy, buttery, hydrating lip product that’s never greasy & has wonderful, buildable color payoff, that you simply can’t mess up.
Do you get intimitated by doing eye makeup? Then you’ve got to try sparkly and easy-to-use Honest Beauty Eye Catcher Lid Tints! These are all so perfect for mixing and matching - you can get one, a few or all 6 shades- they’re super affordable. They’re vegan & cruelty free, so no worries there either!
I love how I can just use my fingers to finish off the look after I apply the liquid eyeshadow - SO easy for someone like me who isn’t an eyeshadow expert. They glide on easily and dry down quickly, plus they’re designed to be safe for sensitive eyes! You won’t even feel you have any makeup on your eyes, honestly. It’s hard to pick, but if I had to, my favorite shades are: Pay Day & Out of Office (pictured here).
The Honest Beauty Fresh Flex Concealer is my favorite concealer that came out in 2022! This launch is a total home run. Glass tube, easy application, medium buildable coverage, brightening and flexible shades! It looks really natural and doesn’t travel around as the day goes on.
I love that this concealer has skin loving ingredients like niacinamide, 2 types of hyaluronic acid and shea butter, among others.
I’d say this concealer work well for covering blemishes, and it’s really excellent for under the eyes.
For me it’s not easy to find many clean concealers that satisfy my parameters (med.-full coverage, lightweight, easy to blend, non-comedogenic), but this one fits the bill!
